Ardeshir Godrej opened a business empire in 1897 that came to be known as the Godrej Group in Mumbai, which Godrej Properties is part of. In 1990, the real estate wing was set up as Godrej Investment and Private Limited and first project Deltion, Godrej Edenwoods, Thane introduced the company in the field of residential constructions in early 1990s. The company's journey led to becoming a listed Pan-Indian developer, led by a 4th generation family of Pirojsha Adi Godrej, who is the executive vice-chairman of the company, and is active in approximately a dozen cities, focusing on residential, commercial and township development.
The Properties has a footprint in Mumbai's old and newer neighbourhoods, including Vikhroli, where the group has come from, and Worli and Bandra, where it has continued to have an interest in redevelopment. The developer has gained a reputation not for a signature, but for scale and speed of delivery as it has won more than 400 industry awards to its name and has been rated as one of India's most trusted real estate brands. The property business is also backed by its brand association with Godrej, active since the times, boosted by consumer products, engineering and agriculture, and for some time now, is the New Godrej.
