The journey of the Hiranandani Group began with the 1978 transformation of a Powai Hillside Quarry to become Hiranandani Gardens, one of the first integrated large towns built in Mumbai. This group would use in Thane in Hiranandani Estate and Hiranandani Meadows – new developments which are not blocks of blocks, but neighbourhoods comprising homes, schools, retail town centres, places where business and buildings work together and green space. The company, as it is now called under the new name House of Hiranandani, has since evolved beyond housing to healthcare, having two NABH crematories in Powai and Thane and two hotels, Meluha and Rodas, in hotel development. In addition, it has a logistics and warehousing portfolio of 351 acres. Its commercial business provides Grade A-plus office space throughout the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and its retail boulevards hope to replicate the high street shopping experience in its residential communities.
What sets the developer apart from many of Mumbai counterparts is this wide spread – no other developers in the city can claim a similar spread of residential townships, commercial parks, health and hospitality development across these common neighbourhoods. Despite four decades of development, the name continues to be attached to both Powai and Thane.
